What is The Velvet Venus? We are an independently owned small business serving Houston and the surrounding areas. The Velvet Venus sells unique, exciting sexual wellness products in a variety of venues and settings. The only thing we love more than providing an exclusive collection of products to our customers is educating them on topics of intimacy. We spend time educating ourselves on everything from the chemistry and engineering of toys to the biology of the body. Then, we share that knowledge with anyone we meet and include it on our Resources page.

Our history is as varied as our product selection and has taken many surprising but rewarding turns. Originally launched as an adult home sex toy party company (only), we provided a wide selection of products from numerous manufacturers. Since we had access to over 100,000 items, we would always let our customers know that we could find just about any product that was on the market.

Although our customers loved their purchases from us, we would often get a request for a hard-to-find item (usually something they had found years ago). From those requests came the idea for our Personal Shopper Service: tracking down specific items that our customers couldn’t find in the local stores. Each time, we create a customized shopping page for the customer; this allows them to shop privately and comfortably from their own home.

Eventually, we wanted to offer our products outside the living room setting and reach a broader audience, so we decided to expand into another market. Since we offered many different types of products- from body lotions to vibrators, leather items to bath salts, we realized we could easily fit into any environment. Soon we were setting up booths at  nudist resorts, fetish balls and other “adult” venues. We were meeting a lot of great people and they all kept asking the same question: do you have a website? We did, of course, but not a shopping website. The need for an on-line store quickly became apparent, and after a few months we had one ready for the public.

So here we are today: a company that offers home sex toy parties, a Personal Shopper Service, has an on-line store brimming with fabulous products and makes appearances at numerous “adult” events a month. What’s next, you may ask? Our next goal is to have a “brick-and-mortar” store of our own, where all our customers can come together in one place. We imagine it having an education room and really amazing décor. We already have the curtains picked out and with the support and encouragement of our customers, it will be a reality one day soon…
